Death toll in Wayanad crosses 200

• As of Wednesday evening, 174 bodies and 61 body parts have been retrieved, with 191 individuals still reported missing. In the past two days, 1,592 people have been rescued, with 99 currently receiving medical treatment, while others have been relocated to relief camps.

Delhi High court on freebie culture of Delhi government

• The Delhi High Court has criticized the Delhi government’s “freebie culture” for contributing to the financial strain on the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), which has left it unable to properly maintain or upgrade city infrastructure.
• This situation was highlighted during a hearing related to the drowning of three Civil Services aspirants in a coaching center’s basement, which the court linked to broader issues of mismanagement and neglect.
• The court condemned both the MCD for its failure to address infrastructure issues and the police for their inadequate investigation into the incident. It also noted the lack of a functioning MCD Standing Committee, which has hampered the MCD’s ability to manage and sanction significant projects.

Reality check of morality and moral values of famous teachers
