U.S. to send missile defence system and troops to Israel.

The U.S. will deploy a Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) missile battery to Israel, following Iran’s missile attacks in April and October 2023. Authorized by Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and President Joe Biden, the move aims to strengthen Israel’s air defense and protect Americans in the region. THAAD intercepts ballistic missiles at high altitudes, covering more area than the Patriot system. This deployment reflects U.S. support for Israel amid rising tensions with Hezbollah and Iran’s warnings.
