Paruveta Festival
- The Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) is making efforts to secure UNESCO recognition for the annual ‘Paruveta’ festival.
- Paruveta Festival also known as the ‘mock hunting festival’,
- It is celebrated at the Sri Narasimha Swamy temple in the town of Ahobilam, Andhra Pradesh.

Fair and Remunerative Price
Recently, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approved rupees 340/quintal as the Fair and Remunerative Price (FRP) of sugarcane for sugar season 2024-25 at sugar recovery rate of 10.25%.
Key Points
- It is the price declared by the government, which mills are legally bound to pay to farmers for the cane procured from them.
- The FRP is fixed by the Union government (Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA)) on the basis of recommendations of the Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP).
- The payment of FRP across the country is governed by the Sugarcane Control order, 1966.
- According to this order payment within 14 days of the date of delivery of the cane is mandetory.
- Mills have the option of signing an agreement with farmers, which would allow them to pay the FRP in installments.
- FRP of sugarcane is calculated based on the following factors:-
- cost of production of sugarcane
- return to the growers from alternative crops and the general trend of prices of agricultural commodities
- availability of sugar to consumers at a fair price
- price at which sugar produced from sugarcane is sold by sugar producers;
- recovery of sugar from sugarcane;
- the realization made from sale of by-products viz. molasses, bagasse and press mud or their imputed value
- reasonable margins for the growers of sugarcane on account of risk and profits
