What is the CUET exam?

CUET UG exam is conducted for admission into different programs offered by various central universities across India. Some of the premier institutions that take admissions based on CUET results are Banaras Hindu University, Aligarh Muslim University, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Rajiv Gandhi University, University of Delhi, Jamia Milia Ismailia University, etc. The aim of this exam is to provide a common platform and equal opportunities to students across the country, irrespective of students living in urban or rural parts, to get into premier central universities of the country. Therefore, now because of these exams, students do not have to write individual exams for each university, and instead, a single examination will enable the students to appear for all these central universities in one go.

Scheme of Examination

As it is understood, the CUET UG exam will take place in three sections. The first section or Section A would be the language exam, Section B or the second section would be a domain-specific exam, and thirdly, Section C would be a general test. In total, 61 subjects would be offered out of which 33 options in language, 27 options in domain-specific exam, and only one option in general test exam. Students can take a maximum of 6 exams including general test exams, and out of which language exams cannot be more than 2.  The exam would be conducted in a Hybrid manner. Remaining can be domain-specific exams such as legal studies, Agriculture, Chemistry, etc.

Effective Strategy to prepare for the exam

Section A- To prepare for Section A or the language exam, it is necessary that you have a reading and understanding knowledge of the exam. To evaluate this section, reading comprehension would be used which could be of any topic. Therefore, a student cannot be ready beforehand as there is no question of learning. What is required is the skill to comprehend and good reading speed. These skills can only be improved with more and more quality reading. While preparing, students should not just rush in reading the comprehension, they should also be able to understand the same while reading it, at the same pace. Such a combination of skill sets will make you undefeatable for this Section.

Section B- Section B deals with domain-specific exams. The syllabus of such subjects as Legal studies or Chemistry would not be of college level but of 12th class level. Students do not have to worry about the difficulty level of the questions. What is required from them is to ensure that their core is strong, and their fundamentals are crystal clear. Application-based questions could be a near-sighted possibility in the exam. Thus, the fundamentals behind any concept have to be clear by students for them to easily answer any question asked directly or indirectly.

Section C- Section C is a general test that shall include General Knowledge, Current Affairs, General Mental Ability, Numerical Ability, Quantitative Reasoning, Logical and Analytical Reasoning. This section actually requires continuous practice and updating of the skill set. From questions of maths to what is happening around the world, anything and everything can be asked. Therefore, the idea is to keep yourself updated with current affairs and start revising your static general knowledge. Other than this, it is advisable that students should practice more and more with logical reasoning questions and quantitative reasoning questions. The level of these questions is not tough at all, but they are asked in such a tricky manner that they appear as tough questions in the minds of students while attempting the paper.
